Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!!

As I sit here relaxing Christmas night, it is hard not to reflect on the holiday season.

The sales and the shopping...the gifts and the grabbing...the crowds and the complaining...the lists and the lagging.

This Holiday season has been very interesting.  It's came and went so fast and furious.  I feel like it's a blur now.

My kids enjoyed it thoroughly, but we have two more Christmas celebrations to go, four total.  We tend to be completely exhausted by the end.

Most importantly, though, we see family and friends and get to spend quality time with all of them.  And that is what the holidays should be about.  And about giving not receiving (but that is hard to explain to children).

I truly hope that all of you have a great holiday season.  Take time for yourself and take time to visit with your family and friends.  Life is short!

Enjoy your day and your holiday!

Holiday Gift Idea #4 and #5 and #6

Holiday Gift Idea #4:  Wine Sampler

This is a great idea for someone who loves wine.  From the Tasting Room, get an at-home wine tasting sampler with 1.7 oz bottles on wine from a variety of vineyards.  It's a pefect way to sample different wines and not go broke or waste a full bottle of wine if you don't like it after the first sip.  Go to tastingroom.com and get six 50 ml. bottles for only $34.99.

Holiday Gift Idea #5:  Tube Scarves

What a great gift idea for all women, tube scarves or infinity scarves.  They come in all fabrics, textures, and colors.  I have seen them range in price from $9.99 to $199.  And with these tube scarves, you don't have to worry about how to tie them or how to wear them.  All you have to do is wrap it around your neck once or twice or even three times depending on the length of the scarf.  You can find these scarves are local boutiques or at department stores.

Holiday Gift Idea #6:  Candles

Okay, this is a no brainer!!  If you really don't know what to gift someone, you can always buy them a candle.  There are so many to choose from, so you can't go wrong.  However, my advice is to choose a fragrance that isn't too strong.  Make sure it's subtle enough and not too overpowering.  Just make it simple.

Good luck with the rest of your holiday gift shopping.  I still have a few more gifts to buy, and luckily, my children are in school this whole week!!!

Enjoy your day!!

I know that I told you that I would blog about holiday gift ideas, but I just had to tell you about all of the sales that are currently happening.

It was originally $89, marked down to $34, additional 40% off that price, then I used one of my Gap reward cards.......I only paid $1.07!!  Yes, just a buck!!!

Then I went to DSW to check out the shoes.  Every once in awhile, I find a great pair of shoes and a great deal.  Check out what I got.......

I don't know the original price on these shoes, but they were marked down to $54, then 80% off of that price, I used a reward certificate.........I only paid $1.07!!!  Yes, again...just a buck!!!  Can't beat that!!!

Then there's TJ Maxx.  They have marked down a ton of their Runway to the Maxx designer clothes...Missoni, Catherine Malandrino, Versace, Nanette Lepore, Valentino shoes, LAMB, Joe's jeans, Hudson jeans, Vince, etc.

My point being..........today I was out and about trying to finish my holiday shopping (I was home bound three days this week with a sick child), and I stumbled upon these sales!  Unbelievable!!!  When you least expect it...that's when you find the greatest deals.

So while you are doing your holiday shopping, don't forget to treat yourself to a little something...you deserve it...and these sales won't make you feel guilty!!

Holiday Gift Idea #2

Holiday gift idea #2 is one of the best gifts to give a parent or grandparent!!

For the last 2-3 years, I have been giving family photo albums as gifts.  They are so simple to do, and you can do them in the comfort of your own home.

It's really hard to think of gifts for my husband's parents.  His four parents range in age from 83 - 94 years old.  I have just simply run out of gift ideas for them.  And since they only see my kids once twice a year, this is a prefect way for them to see what the kids been doing this past year. The family photo album gives them so much joy!!
I do these albums on the Walgreens' website.  All you have to do is choose your album cover (paper, leather or linen), the size (5" x 7" or 8" x 10"), and the color of the inside pages.  Once you download all of your photos, you just click and drag the photo where you want it to be placed.  You can put 1-4 photos on each page and add captions, too.  Once you are done, you save it, you order it and have it shipped anywhere.  The albums start at $9.99 and go up from there.

The first page of the albums, I always have a photo of my two kids with the caption reading "The Schwaab Family 2011" or whatever year it is.  That photo is normally from the beginning of that year.  On the last page of the albums, I put another photo of my kids (taken at the end of that year) with the caption reading, "Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  Love, Cole and Taylor".  It's the best gift ever!!  What parent or grandparent wouldn't love it?!?!?!

Enjoy your day!

Holiday Gift Ideas

There are 15 days until Christmas and 10 days until Hanukkah. Which means there are not a lot of days left to shop for gifts.  And that is why my blog will be about holiday gift ideas for the next few weeks.

Holiday gift idea #1:

IPhone and/or touch screen winter gloves.
They come in all different colors and sizes for men and women.  Most department stores and local boutiques are carrying them.  They have a special fabric on the tip of the index finger and on the thumb so you don't have to take off your gloves to use your phone.  And your fingers won't get cold like those fingerless gloves.  The prices range from $15 - $65.  What a great gift!

Enjoy your day!

Holiday Sales and Coupons!

Wow!  I can't believe how many emails, postcards, etc I have received from retailers this holiday season.  It's absolute mayhem!  I receive at least 25 emails per day from retailers and websites promoting their sales and/or coupons.  Then the mail comes, and I get tons postcards and catalogs full of discounts.

Honestly, I can't keep them straight.  I have saved some of them thinking that I might need to use them.  Then when I am finally ready to use the coupon, it has expired.  But no need to worry.  I'm sure I'll get more in the mail or online.

But the first thing I have to do is organize my holiday shopping list.  You know, who I have to buy for...ideas for the people I have to buy for...how much money I want to spend on them.  There's a lot to think about.

Christmas is three weeks away.  Crap!  I need to get going.  As I worked this weekend at Macy's on State St. in Chicago (I did a St. John Knits Fashion Show), I watched all of the shoppers in the store.  And let me tell you, that store was packed with people.  It was unbelievable!!  It was friends and family weekend which means you could get an extra 25% off your purchases.  I guess everyone had that coupon!!  And yes, I did get that coupon in the mail.  Maybe I will use it tomorrow when I go back there to work.

So my point is....try not to get overwhelmed by all of these coupons and discounts.  It can get out of hand.  Just try to stay calm and try to be a little organized.  You can do it!!  I have faith in you!

Enjoy your day!

Made In America Challenge!

Diana Sawyer from ABC World News is doing a segment called, "Made In America".  According to the stats, the average family spends $700 on holiday shopping.  The economists state that if $64 of that average is spent on products made in the USA, that will create 200,000 new jobs.  Check out the link below.  It's very interesting!!
I am seriously going to reevaluate my shopping list and look at the labels and tags of the items I purchase to see where they are made.
Okay, I just went up to my room and checked out the labels of the items I purchased today.  I was looking for an outfit to wear to my husband's company's holiday party.  And of course, after eating so much over Thanksgiving weekend, I couldn't fit into anything that I already have.  The four items I bought today were all made in China.  Very disappointing!
From now on, I am going to try my best and buy some things that are made in the USA.  At least the handbag I recently purchased from my friend, Tangee, is made in the USA.  Actually, it's made in Chicago by her own hands!!!!  She's an amazing designer!  Check out her website:

http://www.tangeeinc.net/

So, I will let you know if I find anything made in America and will report back to you.  Good luck searching yourself.

Enjoy your day!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving!!!

Sorry it's been awhile since my last blog.  My kids were out of school all last week, and we took advantage of the free time.

I hope all of you had a great Thanksgiving.  I certainly did!  My husband deep fried two turkeys and homemade french fries.  And no, he didn't burn down the house!!  It was so nice and relaxing hanging out with family.

Since the kids were out of school, we did a whole lot of nothing.  I did take them to our old neighborhood in Chicago, which is always fun.  One day we went bowling, then my son and I went to a movie while my husband took my daughter ice skating.  Then we just hung out with neighbors and friends.  A lot of fun was had!!

What I didn't do was take advantage of Black Friday.  I never do.  As you all know, I can get deals all year long.  I did buy a few Christmas gifts before Thanksgiving.  It was hard not to because the prices of those items were so good.  They were hard to pass up.  And Cyber Monday started early.  I did buy some items today on Amazon.com.  They were too good to be true so I couldn't pass them up.  Make sure you check out all of the Cyber Monday deals.  It's amazing.

And again, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I promise to "blog" more often.

Enjoy your day!

Black Friday

I just saw the news and they were talking about Black Friday.  They stated that Black Friday is turning into Black Thursday.  Walmart is starting their Holiday sales at 10pm Thanksgiving night, but they are open all day.  Macy's, Target and some outlet malls are opening at midnight Thanksgiving night.  It's like they are all trying to one up each other.  What gives????

Honestly, you couldn't pay me enough to shop that day or go out Thanksgiving night to shop.  I have heard all of the stories...angry shoppers, tired retail employees, pushy costumers, broken doors, items breaking, fights among shoppers, etc.  Really?  Do you want to deal with that? It's up to you!!

I have worked that day before, but that was long ago when stores opened at 8 or 9 am.  Wow!!  And I thought that was early!!  And the only angry people were the fur protesters out on Michigan Ave in Chicago with their anti-fur signs.

Yes the deals are good on Black Friday, but there have already been great deals.  I actually bought some holiday gifts because the prices were too good to be true.  I had to buy them.  They were hot deals.  So check out all the ads, shop around and take your time. There are many deals out there to be had!!!  And not just on Black Friday!!

Enjoy your day!!

Great Jewelry at Low Prices!

I love finding great costume jewelry!  Adding some costume pieces can really make an outfit.  And lately, I have been finding some great jewelry at amazingly low prices.

Believe it or not, Target has been my go to place to find inexpensive costume jewelry.  But I don't look on their walls of displays, I go straight to their jewelry clearance area.  What I have found is absolutely unbelievable!!  Beautiful stone necklaces for $5-$7, beaded bracelets for only $3-$4, and gold/pearl drop hoop earrings for only $4.  I bought a brown leather braided bracelet for my daughter that had a small silver plaque on it that said "Courage".  That was only $3.48.  You really should check it out!!

My other go to place for costume jewelry is Banana Republic.  As I told you in my last blog, I found some fabulous pieces all for less than $10.  You have to check out their sale jewelry items.  They are truly stunning!

On a side note, I still haven't found a pair of jeans.  Supposedly, Joe's jeans and Hudson's do make short lengths and petites.  We shall see.  I will keep you posted.

Enjoy your day!!

Shoppers Out Like Crazy!!

Over the weekend, I went to the outdoor outlet mall by the mother's lake house.  It was extremely windy but a beautiful day.  Then today I went shopping with my mom at an outdoor mall to help her find some clothes that she claims she desperately needs.  Please...you should see her closest!! Anyway, it was another beautiful day in the 60's again.   Both days shoppers were out in force!!

Was it the nice weather?  Was it the sales?  Were people ready to spend their money?  Were people actually starting their holiday shopping?

Now, let me tell you this.  The stores were crowded.  There were lines at the cash registers.  People were carrying a lot of shopping bags.

I only bought a few things at the outlet mall.  Two very cute long sleeve tops for my daughter at J Crew.  They are now carrying their Crewcut kids line at their outlet stores.  Then I found a pair of skinny jeans at the Gap outlet along with two sweater.  **I am still looking for my bootcut, not too flare not too skinny dark denim jeans.  So far, I have tried on 35 pair of jeans.  I will let you know when I have found them.**

Today, my mom did get a great pair of animal print low heel shoes that had a black patent wedge heel.  Very cute.  She must have read my animal print blog!  Then she got two long cardigan type sweaters in berry and charcoal.  Perfect to wear instead of a blazer!  She did well shopping!

I bought a long sleeve Nike top for my son.  Nothing exciting.  Then at Banana Republic, I found beautiful jewelry.  Whoever is designing and/or buying their jewelry is doing a fantastic job.  They had so much to choose from.  I found two pieces in their clearance bin that I had to have...a bracelet that looked antique and a necklace.  The bracelet was originally $39.50.  I paid only $9.97.  The necklace was $29.50, and I got it for $7.97.  Not bad.  I good place to go for great jewelry for all occasions.

So after all of that, I am guessing that it was all of the above...the nice weather, the sales, and we were ready to spend money.  Oops!  Forgot about people starting to holiday shop.  We definitely weren't doing that!

Enjoy your day!

11-11-11!!!

11-11-11

This unbelievable numerical symmetrical date happens once a century.
And today it is happening on Veterans Day.

People think it will be the end of greed.
People think it symbolizes the opening of doors (just look at the number 11, it looks like a door).
People think it represents human awareness.
People think it means angels.
People think it will be a lucky day (my husband is in Vegas and he says it's hopping).

Some people are getting married.
Some people are having babies.
Some people got engaged.
Some people bought lottery tickets.

What do you think of the date?  What are you going to do today?

What did I do today.  Well, at 11:11am, I called my nephew, Christopher, for his birthday.  Yes, what a great day to have a birthday!  He probably thought I was crazy calling at that time.  It was special!!

I also said a quick little prayer after that phone call.  Just wanted to pray for family and friends and health.  It couldn't hurt on a day like today!!

So I hope you had a great 11-11-11.  And since it's Veteran Day, if you see a veteran...just tell them thanks!!

Enjoy your day!!

Sales!!!

Recently I have stumbled upon many sales.  And when I say stumbled, I mean I have accidentally come across great sales while looking for items for my kids, not me.

First I went into Old Navy to look for jeans for my kids.  8 slim for my daughter and 10 husky for my son.  They had a rack of clothes for only $0.99.  Yes, that was 99 cents!!  I ended up buying only two items.  One was a green top because my sister-in-law teases me every St. Patrick's Day because I wear olive green instead of wearing a true green.  They other item I purchased was a great metallic olivey dress with a cinched waist.  I actually bought that same dress in black so I could wear it to work (remember my blog on dresses...the ease of them...no thinking about what to mix and match, etc).  So why not buy another one in a different color.  Then I had a 30% off coupon.  The two items totaled $1.36. Can't beat that!!! By the way, the jeans fit daughter not my son.  His were too big.

Then I was went to TJ Maxx to return some clothes that I had bought my daughter that didn't fit.  Well, they marked down a ton of their "Runway to the Maxx" apparel.  Catherine Maladrino, Vince, Versace, Missoni (and I'm not talking Target), Elizabeth and James, Theory, J Brand jeans, Joe's jeans, Ralph Lauren Collection, Nanette Lepore, etc.  There were some really great deals going on there, and I am not talking summer items either.

Then, of course, I had to go to Target...again.  Guess what they marked down already?  Yes, Missoni for Target.  And some Target stores have more than a few pieces left on their clearance racks.  I did buy a pair of great long knit multi-colored brown gloves for only $13.98!!!   What a deal!!!

And just a FYI!!!  Some stores on doing good sales before Black Friday, so don't forget to check them out.  And don't forget about Small Business Saturday.  Supported your local stores!!

Enjoy your day!!

The Ease of Dresses!

I was reading an article on Salma Hayak the other day, and she was talking about fashion.  She said, "It's a lot easier to grab a fabulous little dress than to put together a whole casual outfit with jeans, a top, the right jacket, and great shoes.  You slip on a dress and you can't go wrong."

I couldn't agree with her more.  Not only is it easier to just through on a dress, it also takes a lot less time.  Think of the time you would save!  All you would have to do is pick out a pair of shoes to match.  So much time is wasted trying to match your jeans, pants or skirt with a cute top, or a belt, or jacket, or sweater, or cardigan.  And what if they aren't cleaned?  What if nothing looks good?  What if those items are looking old and worn out?  Time is wasting away.

I also feel that dresses are so comfortable to wear.  I am always worrying if my jeans will fit or not.  Will they be tight on me?  Will my muffin top hang out?  I absolutely feel more comfortable in a dress when I am working, too. And for the last couple of years, I have purchased a lot of dresses.  Also, purchasing dresses are a lot less expensive than purchasing whole outfits. Hmmmm.....one piece of clothing verses 3-4 pieces....you do the math!!!

Trouve has a great berry pleated dress that you can dress up or down.  Donna Morgan has a neutral dress with a tie belt that can be worn alone or with a great jacket or leather motorcycle jacket.  Ella Moss has a great black and white silk dress that's so much fun!!  And depending on the time of year, you can wear them with cute sandals or flip-flops or tights and boots.

So make your life easier, be more comfortable, save some time and buy a dress!!

Enjoy your day!!

Happy Belated Halloween!!

Happy Halloween (two days late)!!!!

Halloween is always festive in our neighborhood.  A good percentage of the houses are decorated, there's a Halloween costume parade at the grade school, and every family is out trick-or-treating.

There were a lot of creative Halloween costumes this year, and I'm not just talking about the kids.  A lot of parents dressed up too.  There were witches, ghosts, princesses, football players, crayons, rock stars, pop stars, cheerleaders, fortune tellers, skeletons, Angry Birds, Mario and Luigi, and villains.

Here's a photos of my kids in their costumes.  My son is addicted to football and the Chicago Bears, so he decided to go as Coach Ditka from the 1985 Super Bowl Bears.  And yes, that's his real hair!  And the sweater he is wearing was my dad's from the 1980's.  It's now my brother's.

My daughter borrowed this beautiful costume from my neighbor (the best place to go for girl costumes) and went as the Evil Queen.  I know...she doesn't really look that evil!  She has black and red hair extensions on and a scar on her face, but you can't see it.  They were both very excited about their costumes this year.

I hope all of you had a fun Halloween!!  My kids sure did!!

Enjoy your day!!!

Recent Purchases

It seems like I have been shopping a lot lately, but it really has been on accident.  I go to a store looking for something for my kids, and I end up falling into these huge sales.  So, I thought I would share with you some of my recent purchases (with photos).

First of all, I know that I had already shared with you my Gap purchases from their huge sale, but thought I would show you some photos.  I also bought a maxi dress at the Gap.  I was looking for black pants for my son at Gap Kids and found myself at the regular Gap, saw this dress and had to have it.  I always wanted to try a maxi dress but didn't want to spend the money on one.  Why?  What if I wouldn't like it the next season?  Would I be able to pull that look off?  I am vertically challenged!!!  Well, I ended up getting it for free by using my Gap rewards certificate.  YEA!!!!!  I have also included some of the other items I purchased there.

Yesterday, I went to Old Navy looking for a Halloween t-shirt for my daughter and found that they were having a huge sale, too.  Additional 30% off their clearance.  I didn't find the t-shirt for my daughter (I know, I'm a little late for looking for Halloween items) but found a few good deals for me.  Yes, I bought two tie-neck sleeveless blouses, ivory and black, for only $8 each.  They are perfect for wearing with a cardigan or a jacket.  Check them out below.  The other top is from the Gap.

Do I feel guilty spending all this money?  NO!!  I got everything for so cheap!!!  I didn't even spend over $100.  Personally, I feel that when you go out shopping really wanting to buy something and spend money, you never find anything.  It's the times I don't go out looking is when I always have luck shopping.  When you least expect it...when it's by chance...that's when you find the hidden gems...the deals...the steals!!!

Enjoy you day!!!

Just Like Christmas Morning!!!

Now that the weather has turned, I decided to go through my closet and check out my winter clothes.  I started with my sweaters and a few of them had tags still on them.  I forgot at the end of last winter I hit some big end of the season sales and bought some clothes.  Of course since it was the end of the season, I never got to wear them.  So, when I was checking out my "new" clothes, it felt like Christmas Morning!!!

It was so much fun wearing these sweaters like I had just bought them.  One was a Vince sweater that was originally $265 that I got for $34.  The other one was a Kenneth Cole cardigan that was $95 that I got for $4.99.  What a bargain!!!  I think that store lost money on that item!!!

Fast forward to the present...I went to the Gap today purposely look for jeans.  They have short lengths there and that's what I need.  I tried on 15 pairs and only bought one with my 30% coupon.  BUT what I really want to tell all of you is that the Gap had a huge sale that started today.  All their sale items were an additional 40% off.  And their sale items were totally clearanced...final sale.  I bought 8 items...plus tax...$67.  Not bad!!  One top was orginially $56 and I got it for $5.   I bought a dress, belt, 2 sweaters, a turtleneck, 2 tops and a blouse.  It felt great!!!  And they were all cute items.  I can wear the black casual jersey dress to work tomorrow!!

I do love getting a deal and I do love bargains, especially when you don't expect it.  Then I don't feel guilty or get buyer's remorse.  And I did try on everything at the store and at home.  You should always do that with whatever you buy.  Try it on twice, just to make sure!!  Better safe than sorry!!

Enjoy your day!

Size Doesn't Matter!

This past Saturday, I did a Plus Size Fashion Show for Macy's at one of their suburban Chicago stores.  I worked on it all last week pulling the looks, fitting the models, etc.  And as I was fitting these plus size models (which means size 14 and up), I couldn't help but noticed how beautiful these women were and how wonderful they looked in the clothes. It made me start to think that size really doesn't matter.

One of the models, Ginny, was a size 14 and she was as fit as a fiddle.  I couldn't believe what rock solid abs she had.  She's tall and she's athletic.  She looked amazing in all of the looks I pulled for her.  And I really want abs like her!

The other women were sizes 16-20.  I wanted to showcase all different kinds of trends to prove that no matter what your size, you can look stylish, too.  Here are some of the clothes that I pulled for the show:  jersey wrap dresses, leggings, skinny jeans, pencil skirts, cardigan sweaters, blazers, capes, animal print silk blouses and double breasted coats with belts.  And let me tell you, the ladies that attended the show were shopping like crazy afterwards.  It was unbelievable!

So, I guess I proved my point that day...no matter what's your size, no matter what's your shape, no matter what's your height...you too, can look absolutely fabulous!!!!

Enjoy your day!

Tie-Neck Blouses!

Everywhere I look, all I see are tie-neck blouses.  In magazines, in stores, on celebrities...they are all over!

Do I have one?  Actually, I have two!  One is a black v-neck style from the Gap, which I bought last year, and the other one is a black/mustard/purple print crew neck style from Diane von Furstenburg, which I got two years ago for 75% off, by the way.  I guess I was ahead of the trend!!!

I love both of them!!  I feel that the tie-neck blouse is one of the most versatile trends this season.  You can wear it casually with jeans, wear it to work or dress it up with a pencil skirt or some wide legged pants.  Tuck it in and wear it with a great wide belt or a sleek skinny belt or you can leave it untucked and wear with your skinny jeans or pants.

There are also different ways to tie the blouse.  Tie it in a bow (low or high), tie it in a knot (low or high), or you can wrap it around the neck and style it like a scarf.  If it's a crew neck style, change it up a bit and tie the bow to the side of your neck instead of the middle because everyone wears it that way.  Your bow can be big or small, just make sure it's comfortable on you and you aren't choking yourself.

Where and who has these blouses?  The list goes on and on, so here are just a few:  H&M light pink blouse for $39.95 (they had one for $9.95 but I think it sold out already), Vince Camuto slate grey blouse for $99, and Banana Republic has one from their Mad Men Collection that's $80.

So go ahead, tie one on and see how you feel!!  Sorry, couldn't resist that!!

Enjoy your day!

The Cape!!!

The Cape!!!  The hottest fall fashion trend!!!  The question is...will you buy one?

The cape is basically an alternative to the coat or jacket, which ever you prefer.   You can dress it up or wear it casually.  It can be sophisticated and classy or funky and fun.  And it doesn't matter what size you are, everyone can wear it.  I like the idea of it because it can hide your mid-section (aka...muffin top, spare tire, love handles, etc).

Now, if you do buy a cape, you need to know how to wear it. Because its shape is more over sized and flowy, you don't want to look like you are being swallowed up by it.  Make sure that you pair it with something slim and fitting on the bottom.  No long maxi skirts or baggy pants. You need to wear the cape with leggings, skinny pants or jeans, or a slim short pencil skirt.  And if you are petite, do not buy a long cape that goes down to your knees.  You need a shorter length so it doesn't overwhelm you.

The capes this season are coming in all shapes and colors.  They have toggle, button, zipper, and buckle closures.  The most common colors are midnight blue, charcoal grey, black and camel.  And they do come in all price points.

I guess I should let you know my answer to that question?  Will I or won't I be buying a cape this season?  I haven't so far, but I did buy something similar to that...it's a sweater cape/poncho.  I didn't want to invest in a real cape coat because I wasn't sure.  So I thought I would try a sweater version to see if I liked it.  I found it on sale at Nordstrom Rack for $24.97.  That was enough money for me to spend on it since I was on the fence.  I truly believe that you shouldn't spend a lot of money on a trend that you are questioning.  Because if you do and then by next season you don't like it any more, you won't have buyer's remorse or shopper's guilt or whatever you want to call it.

Enjoy your day!

Black and Camel...Great Color Combo!!

One of my favorite color combinations is black and camel.  Camel is such a rich color and paired with black, it becomes powerful, elegant, and fashionable.

And this season I really see this color combo in coats.  There are so many trench coats out there now with the black and camel color combination.  Rebecca Minkoff, Bebe, Dover and Burberry have all come out with camel coats showcasing black sleeves.  Some of the black sleeves are actually leather!

BCBGeneration has a great camel and black wide horizontal striped pleated skirt that is so chic.  And I know that all of you probably have at least one black top in your closet to go with that great skirt.  And Max Mara has my favorite dress.  It's a beautifully color blocked shift dress that is basically all camel except at the bottom where there's a thin stripe of black and charcoal.  It is so stunning, chic and gorgeous!!!

H&M has a great camel wrap with black strips, which is perfect to throw on this fall to keep you warm.  And the Loft has a great camel and black cape on the market.  So, you can take care of two huge fall trends in one...the cape and the camel/black color block combo.

As for shoes, camel and black is the most common color combo.  Michael Michael Kors has a great ballet flat with this color combo, and Ann Taylor has a great high heeled loafer style pump that's black and camel.  I could go on forever listing all the shoes, but all you have to do is check out any shoe department or shoe store and take a look for yourself.  They are everywhere!!

What's so easy about this color block combination is that it's very simple to do.  Just take a black sweater and pair it with camel pants or a camel skirt...wear all black and add camel shoes and a camel belt..wear all camel and add black accessories, etc.  And the best thing is.....this trend will last season after season after season because it's so elegant yet chic!!!

Enjoy your day!!

Lynn

I know that color blocking is such a big trend this fall, but the black and camel combo have been a classic look for such a long time.  It's kind of funny that it's a "trend" this fall season because every year, no matter what, you always see this color combo out in full force.

Blog Updates!!

I wanted to take some time today and update everyone on some of my previous blogs.  I will try to do this every so often.  So here we go:

9/23 - I love my new rain boots and wore them Sunday while watching my son's football game.  There was a 60% chance of rain that day, so I was excited to wear them.  Funny thing happened...it was sunny and not rainy at all.  Anyway, my friend, Julie, wore her new boots, too.  Yes, she actually bought some, too, and she found hers at Marshall's.  They are so cute.  Marshall's also had my boots there but in a shorter version, which is a good option to those who don't want a tall rain boot.  That's what my mom is looking for!

9/20- Wow!!  So many people loved that cute winter hat that my neighbor, Colette wore in the photo I posted, and now I am seeing them everywhere.  I just bought one for my 8 year old daughter at Justice.  Perfect for her tiny peanut head!!

9/14 - Was at Target again today, but what else is new.  Target had some Missoni items there that were not new stock items.  Looks like everyone is returning their Missoni goods that they couldn't sell on eBay.  My daughter is getting good use out of her Missoni rain boots, though.

9/1 - Do you remember me telling you why my mail person hates me this time of year?  Yes, those September fashion magazines that are so thick and heavy.  Well, I still haven't finished reading them, and I have gotten the October ones already.  I am really behind in my reading!!!

8/11- When I talked about the Fall Jean Trends, I discussed zippers being one of those jean trends.  I bit the bullet and bought a pair of dark denim skinny jeans with the zippers on the bottom outside of the legs.  They are a little bit long on me, which isn't surprising since I am vertically challenged, so I just unzip them an inch or two.  Looks very chic that way!!!

8/4 - Animal prints!  So you know how I told you that I was going to buy an animal print belt?  I didn't buy one, but instead I bought an animal print scarf.  And while I was working on two fashion shows this month, I could not believe that animal prints are everywhere....jackets, boots, pumps, belts, scarves, necklaces, earrings, hats, gloves, dresses, cardigan sweaters, and hair accessories.  WOW!!!!  Could it be overkill? (no pun intended)

Okay..that's about it for now.

Enjoy your day!

I Finally Got Rain Boots!!!

It was an early damp and cold Saturday morning in June.  There was no sunshine, and the ground was wet from the rain.  My friend Julie and I were volunteering at a soccer picnic (our daughters play soccer).  We were standing in the grass complaining how cold and wet our feet were and why???  Because we were wearing gym shoes.  Then we started checking out all of these women wearing these cute rain boots.  Right away we both said...I gotta get me a pair of those!!

Fast forward to this past Sunday (3 1/2 months later), another cold and damp day.  And yes, Julie and I were standing in the grass (this time for our sons' football game) wearing gym shoes yet again.  We looked at each other and said...I guess we never got around to buying those rain boots!!!  And there were plenty of women out there sporting their fashionable yet appropriate rain boots keeping their feet dry and warm.

So, I finally bit the bullet.  I went to the mall yesterday and hit a bunch of stores.  But beforehand, I hit the Internet to check out all of the possibilities.  And let me tell you...there are tons to choose from.

Now, there were a lot of websites with great deals, but I really needed to try them on.  I wanted to make sure that they fit over my calves and that I could tuck my jeans in them.  I finally ended up at Nordstrom, but I couldn't find the pair I saw online that I really, really wanted.  So I asked a sales associate, and he searched high and low and even asked other associates about this pair of rain boots.  They told him they were all sold out.  But my guy kept on searching until he found the pair I wanted and in my size, which is a 6.  Yes, I'm the display size and normally that pair is all stretched out but not his time.  It was a brand new pair, and it was the last pair they had.  VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!

But there was one little problem...I had no coupon, no gift card, and it wasn't on sale.  I saw it cheaper online but this sales associate really went the extra mile to find it.  So................I paid full price!!!!  I know, shocking!!

But I think it was well worth it.  The weather looks bad again this weekend, and both of my kids have games this weekend.  Yes...on grass...it's supposed to rain...and I will be standing out there again.  But this time my feet will be warm and dry.

Check out the photo.  Those are my new rain boots.  Pretty cool!!  And yes, that is a real zipper which makes it easier to get them on!!

Okay, Julie...it's your turn!!!!

Enjoy your day!!!

Cute Winter Hats!!

I know that you aren't quite ready for the cold weather yet, but check out this winter hat my neighbor's daughter bought!!!  It's very trendy and also very cute!!

Colette is a freshman in high school and bought this hat at Hot Rags, a store in La Grange, IL.  There were also other animals available, however this one was the most fun.

The inside of this hat is fleece, making it comfy not itchy.  And the outside is knit.  And I like how it covers her ears, which will keep her extra warm this winter.

Now guess the price.................$18.00!!!!  What a great deal!!!  I wish it came in a children's sizes.  You better believe that I will be searching all over the place for one for my 8 year old daughter!!!

Enjoy your day!!!

Missoni for Target, Part Deux!

Okay...has the madness stopped!!  The madness for Missoni for Target, that is!!

So, I went on Target's website and almost everything is sold out.  Absolutely crazy!!  People went bonkers for this merchandise.  Personally, I bought rain boots and ballet flats for my daughter, a tie for my husband, a makeup case, and a travel case.  Remember, I didn't go the inaugural day.  I went the day after and two days after and accidentally found some of these items.

Then I went on Ebay to find out the scoop.  There was a ton of Missoni for Target merchandise on that site up for sale.  Now, some of the home items were selling for double and event triple the actual price.  The other items that were going for a lot of money were the women's apparel.  The children's items were not going at all.  A good percentage of those items didn't even have any bids.  Very interesting, if you ask me.

Finally, do you think Target will re-stock these items?  Do they even have any items left in their warehouses to re-stock?  Will the try to produce more?  Stay tuned...

Also, I was wrong in my last blog.  This promotion is really supposed to end October 22.

Enjoy your day!

Missoni for Target and The Craziness!!

Yesterday was the kick-off day for Target's Missoni line of merchandise.  It will be, well supposed to be in their stores only for a limited time, just until October 2nd.  But after the craziness that ensued yesterday in all Target stores and on their website, I don't think that will happen.

I honestly don't believe the Missoni family and Target knew how big this partnership would be.  Target's website crashed yesterday, and when people finally got through, everything was sold out.  The stores had people lined up outside waiting for them to open...just like Black Friday.  I know women who bought anywhere from $750-$1300 worth of Missoni merchandise.  I also know women who contacted friends and family in rural areas to buy everything up in their town's Target.

Why was merchandise line such a big success?  Why was this designer partnership such a bigger hit than the others?

It's all about Missoni's signature design, the zig zag.  You can reproduce that design on everything from rain boots to pillows to cosmetic bags to plates to apparel to glassware to hair accessories.  And Target was able to accomplish that goal.

It was also about their advertisements.  Who could forget their amazing commercials...very cute and catchy!!  I feel that they promoted this line of merchandise more than any of their others.

I, personally, did not go yesterday.  I waited until today, and the shelves and racks were completely empty.  Only a few items remained.  I did buy a Missoni travel case and makeup case.  And I bought my daughter Missoni ballet flats and rain boots.  They were too cute to pass up so I hope they fit her!  Then I went to TJ Maxx to return something for my son and found the real Missoni on their racks...not full price but not as cheap as Target.  And when I was there, I saw a mother with her daughter both dressed to the nines in full on Target Missoni apparel.  Too funny!!  I chuckled to myself!!

Oh, and on a side note...I bet you a million dollars that you will be seeing these items on Ebay!!

Enjoy your day!!!

9/11/01...Where Were You?

As I awoke this morning, the first thing I did was turn on the TV and start watching all of the 9/11 Memorial coverage on the news.  As I sat there mesmerized by all that was airing, I started thinking back as to where I was and what I was doing that day...the morning of 9/11/01.

I was on my way to work, freelancing at Marshall Field's.  I was working on their 28 Shop Show (which is their designer show) that was supposed to be at the Museum of Contemporary Art.  We were living in Chicago at the time.  I was walking down Halsted Street on my way to the Red Line El train when my phone rang.  It was my husband.  He begged me not to go to work and to come home right away.  I didn't understand what he was saying.  Why should I go back home?  What happened?  Was something wrong with our baby?  Our son was only 4 months old, and our sitter was there as my husband was working out of our house at the time.

He was trying to explain to me everything that was going on in New York City, but I couldn't comprehend it.  Finally, I took his advice, turned around and walked back home.  On the way, I called the Fashion Office at Field's and left a message for the other freelancers about my whereabouts and what I was doing.  When I got home, my husband was standing right in front of the TV with the sitter and our baby.  They couldn't take their eyes off of the TV.  I looked at them then the TV, and found myself doing the same thing.  We let our sitter go home and I called the girls again in the Fashion Office and begged them to go home, get out of downtown Chicago.  They finally did so and by 12 noon, downtown Chicago was evacuated.

After watching the coverage for half the day, My husband and I decide to take our baby for a walk in his stroller. We lived so close to Lincoln Park Zoo so we started heading that way.  Nobody was out.  It was silent.  It was creepy.  We looked at each other, turn around and went back home.  We got in our car, and got the hell out of the city and went to my parent's house in the suburbs.

We all know that our world, our lives changed that day.

And now, ten years later, my son is now ten years old.  Today, he watched part of the 9/11 TV coverage with me.  Then we went to church, watched part of the Chicago Bears football game, then went to his football game.  My daughter, who is eight years old, is one of his cheerleaders.  Yes, I know...how cool is that.  Anyway, tonight as my son and I watched Sunday Night Football (Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Jets in NY), he started asking me questions about 9/11.  He wanted to know absolutely everything from how the terrorists hijacked the planes to did everyone die on those planes.

I was so glad that he felt comfortable enough to ask me all of those questions, especially since he only knows life after 9/11.  It was one of the best conversations that I have ever had with him.  And I will never forget it, as I will never forget that day ten years ago and those who lost their lives that day.

Enjoy your life!

Fashion Night Out Chicago 2011

Thursday, September 8th was Fashion Night Out all around the world.  This event was started two years ago in New York City to boost the economy, to get people out, shop and spend money.  The Fashion Night Out (FNO) merchandise proceeds went to AIDS research.

Last year FNO was nationwide, and I was hired to work an event at Macy's on State Street in Chicago.  It was a great event, and once again, all proceeds from the sales of the FNO merchandise went to AIDS research.

For this year's event, I was hired by Macy's to work their event at Water Tower Place in Chicago.  Their visual staff and myself put together a "Fashion Closet" where the event took place.  Check out the photos below!

Nora Dunn (former SNL actress) attended the event to promote the play she'll be starring in Love, Loss and What I Wore.  Then Macy's had Marcellas Reynolds (celebrity stylist)of the E network give fashion advice to the audience and had them compete in a "fashion challenge".  FYI...he use to be one of our Marshall Field's models.  He was so much fun!!!

Then there were our "informal" models wearing the latest Macy's trends...Navajo Nation, Be Brilliant and Classic Mix.  They looked fabulous, but I'm biased.  I did dress them!  I think that everyone who attended had a great time.

So next year, don't forget..Fashion Night Out!!!

Enjoy your day!!

Labor Day, Summer Ending and Wearing White!

Today is Labor Day...The unofficial last day of summer.  What a bummer!  I really didn't want summer to end.  Anyway, Labor Day is also the day that everyone (well, actually just women) always asks one particular question year after year after year...Is it appropriate to wear white after Labor Day?

The so called "rule" was always never wear white before Memorial Day and after Labor Day.  Summer only!!  But what if you live in warm weather all year round?  When the temp is 85 and it's March, April, September or October.  Of course you are going to wear white.  Why not!!  Think about it.

Then there's the Midwest where the weather is so unpredictable.  Today it's 65 degrees, yesterday it was 75, the day before that 85, and the day before that 95.  Go figure!  It's completely crazy!  What do you wear?  Wearing white has always been associated with warm, sunny weather.  Why not wear it when the temperature is in the 80's or 90's?  Right?

I would say that in fashion, there are no rules or that rules are made to be broken.  Go with your gut instinct.  Be individualistic!  Be yourself!  Express your own creativity!

Will I wear my white jeans in September?  Sure, why not.  But only if the weather permits.  Would I wear white in April or May?  Sure, but again, if weather permits.  Will I wear white while vacationing in a warm weather state?  Absolutely!!  No doubt about that!

So, I hope I sort of answered your question about wearing white after Labor Day.  Fashion is not supposed to be difficult.  It's supposed to be fun!!

So enjoy the unofficial last day of summer.  Oh, I almost forgot, there are always a ton of sales on Labor Day.  I took my kids to the outlet mall this morning to find some fall school clothes, and it was packed!  So much for the bad economy!  There were no parking spots left, the stores were packed, and people were carry multiple shopping bags.  WOW!!  Happy shopping!!!

Enjoy your day!

Why My Mail Person Hates Me This Time of Year!

The fall fashion season has begun, and all of the September fashion magazines are hitting the newsstands.  I have received most of them already, which is why my mail person really hates me this time of year.

These September magazines are full of fall's hottest trends.  They all preview the lastest and greatest in fall fashion.  And yes, these issues are filled with pages after pages after more pages of fall merchandise and advertisements.

You know what that means?  These September issues are thick...extra thick...inches thick.  They also weigh anywhere between 5-10 pounds each.  You now know why my mail person currently despises me.

Can you imagine carrying those magazines around with you all day..multiple magazines...inches of magazines...pounds of magazines?!?!  Wow!!  I definitely wouldn't want to do that!

So, I would like to thank my mail person for delivering those obnoxiously over sized publications to my doorstep.  I really do appreciate it because I love looking at them, reading them, absorbing them.

So, when you are perusing your September magazines, remember your mail person and remember to thank them, too.

Enjoy your day!!

Is Now A Good Time To Shop?

Now that my kids are back in school, I had a little bit of free time to go to the stores that I really wanted to visit.  Stores other than Target, the grocery store, etc.  I have to say it was a lot of fun, but I had to ask myself...Is now a good time to shop?

Even though the kids are back in school, it's still summer according to the calendar.  Labor Day is still a week away, and the weather is gorgeous!!!  Who wants to even think of wearing fall clothes, let along trying them on in stores.

So, what do you buy?  Fall merchandise or clearance summer merchandise or do you try to find an item that you could wear multiple seasons?

So as I visited these clothing stores, the first thing I noticed was the temperature.  It was freezing in the stores.  Of course, it was a good ploy by the stores.  They purposely keep the temperatures down so shoppers are more willing to try on fall clothing.  Putting on that merchandise makes shoppers fell comfy and cozy.  It's completely psychological but brilliant!

And most of the merchandise in the stores are fall merchandise, full price fall merchandise.  A small percentage of the merchandise is clearance summer items.  And you know I love a deal, but there were slim pickings!!  Yes, there were a few good deals, but you really had to look and search far and wide.  I did find a black Juicy Couture dress that was originally $138 marked down to $29 and another black dress from Oonagh by Nanette Lepore that was $200 marked down to $39.  Now, I bought both dresses but will only keep one of them.  I really like trying them on at home in good lighting and with dual mirrors.  And I know what you are thinking, another black dress!  My husband would definitely say that, but it's a casual fashionable dress that I can wear when I freelance for Macy's.  They require their employees to wear all black on the selling floor, even if you freelance for them.  Anyway, I really like the one from Oonagh!  That's the one I am going to keep.

Anyway, let's keep back to the question...is now a good time to shop?  What do you think?

Enjoy your day!

Fall Shoe Trends!!

Today was the first day of school for my kids, which means freedom for me, but it also means fall is right around the corner.  Honestly, I really wasn't ready for summer to be over.  I'm in complete denial!  However, it also means that the fall fashions are upon us, especially shoes...or should I say most importantly SHOES!!!

I am loving all the different shoe trends for this fall.  The styles, textures, and colors are to die for!!!  There are just too many to choose from!

First let's talk about style.  You've got platform stilettos, peep-toe stacked heels, high heeled loafers, embellished heels, bow tie ballerina flats, platform peep-toe booties, and menswear inspired Brogues (those would be lace up wingtip flats).  I haven't even gotten to the boots, yet.  But let's save that for another day.

How about texture and fabric!  Well, just to name a few...plush fabrics, velvet, suede, supple leathers, tassels, wood, embossed leather, patent leather, calf hair, satin, grosgrain, beads, mesh, python, chains, jewels, metallic, studs, wool, Swarowski crystals, rhinestones and silk.  As you can see by that list, anything goes!!!!

Now for the hot fall color trends for shoes!  All colors are in.  You've got red, burgundy, Sapphire blue, gold, metallic, black, Bordeaux, purple, bright green, hot pink, silver, nude and gold.  I really can't believe all of the different color shoes available this fall.  You will not be disappointed.

So, as I sit here writing this blog in my slippers (I was wearing black patent leather flip flops today), I wonder what type of shoes I will purchase this fall.  And now that the kids are back at school, I will have time to shop (and I'm not talking about Target or the grocery store either).

Enjoy your day!

Macy's Glamorama 2011

I was hired last week to work on Macy's Glamorama Show.  It's a show that fuses music and fashion and is held at the Chicago Theater.  The post-party is held at the Macy's on State St., Chicago, on the 7th floor.  This event benefits the Ronald McDonald Children's Charities.

I have worked on this show since it started as Marshall Field's Fash Bash way back when.  And I have worked with the same freelance fashion stylists every year, which is always a joy as they are my close friends.

The theme of this year's show was Artrageous.  The headliner was Cee Lo Green with a performance by Far East Movement.  The fall fashions were from Sonia Rykiel, John Paul Gaultier, Armani, Bar III, Kenneth Cole, Karl Lagerfeld Capsule, Marc Jacobs, Tracy Reese, and Papi (which is men's colorful underwear...yes, male models in very small, very colorful, very tight undies).

The fashions were amazing this show.  I absolutely loved the platform shoes from Sonia Rykiel.  What fun!  And I loved the ladylike looks of Tracy Reese.  So chic!  The male models looked great in their Kenneth Cole outfits with their pants tucked in their Wellies!!  How cute!  And Marc Jacobs, as you can imagine, was so much fun!!  I liked his looks more than I thought I would.

The other stylists and I were lucky enough to attend the post-party, which is a blast.  And it's also a great people watching place.  WOW!!  People were wearing everything under the sun.  You saw major gowns to shorts and jeans.  Crazy!  Below are a few photos from the party.  The first photo is my husband and I.  The other one is Robin Overman (freelance fashion stylist and antique specialist, who worked on the show), me, Amy Olson (former Fashion Office Coordinator at Marshall Field's and currently a fashion show producer-she's the best), and Tangee Harris Pritchett (freelance fashion stylist and a fabulous handbag designer...check out her website at tangeeinc.net, who also worked on the show).

It was a fun event to work on but very exhausting.  I'm pooped!!!

Enjoy your day!!

Fall Jean Trends

Jeans, Jeans and More Jeans!!!  That's the motto this fall season.  The jeans this season are coming in every size, shape, color and style that you can think of.  Everybody, and I mean everybody, will be able to find at least one pair of jeans they will love.

How about those hot jean trends this fall.  The first being color, all sorts of color.  From brick red, purple, chocolate brown, burgundy, mustard, and olive.
These colored jeans are available in skinny, bootcut and flare with prices starting at $22 all the way up to $275.  It's a great way to liven up your outfit and be a little bold, too.

Another trend this season is the coated jean.  These jeans add a little shine and shimmer to your basic jean.  They have the look of leather but are actually made of cotton and spandex.  Instead of accessorizing with Metallics, wear one of these jeans to add life to your look.

The trouser jean is still very in this fall.  Yes, they look like the jeans from the '80's but a little bit more updated.  They are available in dark denim and faded denim, but I would go for the darker denim.  They are more flattering.  And, again, they range is price from $36 to $211.  So, if you aren't quite sure about them, by a cheaper pair.  That way you don't feel too guilty if you don't like them next year.

And lastly, it's all about zippers.  This fall the hardware of choice on jeans is zippers.  Zippers on the pockets.  Zippers on the bottom of the jeans.  Zippers up along the back of the jean leg.  And zippers up the side of the jeans.  Most of these jeans have the skinny leg so be careful.  Not everyone can wear this style.

So, what jean trend will you try this fall season?  For me, I'm not quite sure.  I guess it all depends on how much I want to spend and most importantly, what trend will look good on me.

Enjoy your day!

Swimsuits or Jeans...Which is Worse to Try On?

I was at the pool the other day talking to some moms, and we were talking about trying on clothes.  So I asked them...which is worse to try on?  Swimsuits or jeans?  What do you think?

Right now...at my age...this summer...I personally feel that swimsuits are definitely worse to try on.  Five years ago, it was jeans.  Let me explain.

Five years ago, I really had a lot of luck finding swimsuits.  It was great!  Most of the suits that I tried on fit well.  They didn't ride up, the didn't reveal too much, and they had a lot of support.  I was so pleased.  Now I know what you are thinking...yes, I was younger and yes, my body has changed since then.  But I did the "Jackie O" thought process...find something that fits well and buy it in multiple colors!  She did that with sheath dresses.

Moving on...five years ago, I really had a hard time finding jeans.  They were way too long and way too low in the rise.  Think Brittany Spears!!  I couldn't find any jeans that fit me.  It was terrible, and I felt miserable.

Now to the present...this summer was the first time I bought a new swimsuit in five years.  I couldn't find anything that fit well or looked good on me.  It was very depressing.  I was still wearing those original suits that I had bought five years ago.  During those years, I must have tried on at least 100 swimsuits.  No kidding!!  Not fun at all!!  I was so glad that this summer I was able to buy two suits, a one piece and a tankini.  Success!!!  At last!!!!

As for jeans, well that has gotten a lot easier.  Shopping for jeans is actually not so bad any more.  I found some jeans that are petite or ankle length (that don't look too matronly), and that have a normal rise.  Good-bye to the Brittany Spears low rise!!!  Yippee!!!  And my favorite jeans are the dark denim bootcuts.  But I'll talk about jeans and the new jean trends and styles another day.

So, don't forget about the question...Swimsuits or jeans, which one is worse to try on??

Enjoy your day!

Animal Prints!

Beware of Animals!  Animal prints, that is!

It seems that every fall season when the fashion trends emerge, animal prints come out of hiding.  Year after year, they always show up in one way, shape or form.  Some are classic and never go out of style.  And some, thank goodness, go to the wayside or get an updated look.

Now, when you wear the animal print trend, be cautious and careful.  Remember...less is more!  Please don't overdo it.  You don't want to be mistaken for a lady of the evening.  You don't want to go overboard.  Wearing one key piece like a blouse or a coat is always appropriate.  Wear that blouse with a pair of dark denim jeans or that coat over a solid black dress.

Express has a cute animal print 3/4 length sleeve blouse that looks great with jeans.  Vince Camuto, which no longer is doing just shoes, is debuting a sleeveless pleated animal print dress.  It's so sophisticated looking with a softer print that you have to look very closely to tell that it is an actual animal print.

And you must not over-accessorize!!  You do not want to wear an animal print belt, hat, shoes, scarf, and bracelet all at once.  That would be overkill!  No pun intended!   Look at yourself in the mirror and analyze yourself.  Just one or two will do.

Ann Taylor has come out with a "Weekend Crossbody" animal print bag that has a gold chain strap.  Very chic!  And the brand, Me Too, has these cute "Lysette" animal print ballet flats which look great with skinny jeans or a short full skirt.  And for the person who is a little tentative to try this animal print trend, how about the Vince Camuto animal print and gold cuff bracelet.  Baby steps, right?!

So, I guess you are wondering what I have in my closet that is animal print.  I have a wide bangle bracelet and three pair of animal print shoes.  One is a low wood heel peep toe flat that I got at Target, probably 4 years ago.  Another one is a Stuart Weitzman velvet animal print pointed toe flat, which I got for only $36 last year.  And the last one is a Cole Haan pointed toe high heel stiletto.  That one I bought for a mere $29.  Come on...you know that I am a bargain shopper and don't pay full price (unlike my husband).

Hmmm...maybe this fall season, I will add a thin animal print belt to my wardrobe.  Considering 50% of my closet is black clothing, that should be a nice added touch.  Remember...Baby Steps!

Enjoy your day!
