Cold Weather

Well, yesterday here is Chicago, it was 78 degrees.  It was such a beautiful day.  And it was sunny for most of the day.  Then around 6pm the weather turned ugly.  The temperatures dropped, the clouds came in, and the rain started coming down in buckets.  When I dropped off my daughter at dance class at 5:30pm, it was 75 degrees.  When I picked her up at 7:15pm, it was 55 degrees.  Then when we woke up this morning at 7:15am, it was 37 degrees.  Yikes!!!  I guess the cold weather is here and staying for awhile.

My outfit for today was completely opposite from yesterday.  The rolled up jeans, the short sleeve top, the ballet flats are gone.  Today, it was full length skinny jeans, knee high boots, and a warm and chunky long cardigan sweater.  But at least the sun was out today.

I guess here in the Midwest, it's definitely time to change our way of dressing.  For the next week, the temperatures will reach only up into the high 40's.  So, what can we wear now?

My suggestions are as follows: chunky sweaters or chunky long cardigans, long sleeve tops, jeans, ankle boots or knee high boots, a fun scarf, a cool hat.

What you don't need now and what can wait til the temps go down further:  heavy down jackets, snow boots, ski wear, insulated gloves.

You don't want to layer up too much because you might be sweating when you're indoors.  Your fall coat or jacket will work fine.  But add a fun scarf, a scarf that you wouldn't wear during a blizzard.

And honestly, please put away those flip flops.  Unless you are getting a pedicure, they need to go bye bye.

Enjoy your day!

Deals and Steals!

I was shopping a few weeks ago for some winter clothing for my children, and I stumbled upon some amazing deals.  I really couldn't believe it.
So, here are a few things that I found:

Tory Burch trouser jeans - originally $195 - paid $15
Alice + Olivia ivory tweed blazer - originally $550 - paid $35
Vince burgundy sweater -originally $195 - paid $25

It was absolutely crazy.   Now, what to do with them?

Should I turn this blog into a shopping website?  I buy the bargains, and I post them on my blog.  If you are interested in buying one, all you have to do is let me know (first come first serve basis).  You send me the money, and I will send you the item.  All you have to pay is the price of the item with tax and shipping.  I don't know.  What do you think?

I find so many bargains when I am shopping, maybe I should start sharing them with you.

What do you think?  Please let me know.

Enjoy your day!

The Ryder Cup

As most of you who live in the Chicagoland area know, this past weekend was the Ryder Cup Golf Tournement.  It was held at Medinah Country Club.  This tournement is held every two years alternating from the USA and Europe.  The top golfers from the USA go against the top golfers from Europe.

Now, I am not writing a sports article here.  I am commenting on the fashions from the Ryder Cup.  Thousands of Europeans decended upon Chicago to attend.  Basically, this is the Olympics of golf.

It was probably one of the best people watching venues that I have ever been to.  Really, it was amazing!  As for the Americans, everyone tried to out do everyone else as to how much red, white and blue you could wear and how outrageous you could wear it.  A few people even dressed up as Uncle Sam!  It was unbelievable!

The Europeans did not disappoint me either.  Wow!!!  They took it to a whole other level.  The European flag was blue with yellow stars on it in the shape of a circle.  A group of men wore blue morf suits with yellow stars on them and black curly wigs.  The British flag was represented in skirts, sequin shorts, capes, suits and very large hats.  It was absolutely crazy!!!  Oh, yes.  How could I forget all of the men I saw wearing kilts.  And no, I didn't ask what they were wearing underneath.

The first day I went, I wore dark blue denim rolled up jeans with a white and blue striped tee.  My son wore navy shorts and a white and navy Ralph Lauren tee with the American flag on it.  My daughter wore red skinny jeans and a red, white and blue top.  She was perfect!!!  The second day I wore white cropped jeans and a navy tee with a scarf.  I really didn't have any red to wear.  Bummer!!!

Then there were people who wore totally inappropriate clothing.  Really...do you need to wear a black flouncy dress with knee high black high heel stilettos to a golf tourney?!?!?  Did she not know that she was going to be walking around in the grass all day long?!?!?  Then there was this young girl (probably high school) with her mother, and she was wearing sequined British flag short shorts...short enough to see her cheeks hanging out.  I couldn't believe that she was allowed to leave the house wearing that!!!

Anyway, it was really fun attending that event for two days.  Too bad the Americans lost.  Actually, they totally lost it on Sunday...blew it.  They were leading going into Sunday and lost everything.  It was a shame.  But I did have such a good time.  And the weather was perfect.

Enjoy your day!
