Sales!!!!

Sales!!!!!!!!!!

I was out furniture shopping today and decided to make a little side trip and stop by Nordstrom Rack.

Wow!  I couldn't believe the huge sale they were having.  I mean half the store was on clearance. You wouldn't have believe what was marked down!  Check this out:

*An Akris Dress was $1350 marked down to $208.
*A Rebecca Taylor dress was $365 marked down to $46.
*Tory Burch pants $265 marked down to $19 (which I bought)
*Sam Edelman suede flats $100 marked down to $14 (bought, too)

They also had Ugg boots for 43% off their retail price.  They were pushing those!!!

They other brand that they had marked down were:
Joe's Jeans, Laundry, Nannette Lepore, Trina Turk, BCBG, and a ton of shoes on sale!!!  Oh my gosh!!!  Crazy!  Glad that I took a break from looking at furniture, which, by the way is sooooooo expensive!!!

Enjoy your day and happy shopping!!!

Designer Clothes for Kids!

I was watching a segment today on Good Morning, America.  The segment was about high designers coming out with new clothing lines for children.  We aren't talking about low end here.  We are talking about Burberry, Gucci, Lanvin (yes, you heard me) and Versace.

It's absolutely unbelievable.  And the cost of these designer duds for kids is the same price as the adults lines.  $1500 for a dress!  For an eight year old!!  And the clothes don't look like children's clothing, they look like adult clothing.  Aren't they growing up too fast as it is?  Now they have to dress like an adult, too!

And get this, Cindy Crawford's ten year old daughter is modeling for the Versace children's line.  I guess the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree, now does it?!?!

Now, if I don't spend that kind of money on myself, how could I spend it on clothing for my child?  Yes, I do love designers clothes but hate spending that kind of money.  But then again, one dollar to me is like one thousand to celebrities.  Right?

Enjoy your day!

Recent Purchases

I've been out shopping a little bit this month trying to spend some of the money I received for Christmas as gifts.  I've been to outlet malls and regular malls and couldn't believe all of the sales.  I am talking about deep discounts, clearance, 75% sales.  These sales normally happen towards the end of January not the beginning of the month.

I hit the outlet mall a few days after New Year's and in every store I walked into, there was an additional percentage off clearance items.  It was unbelievable.

Then a week or so ago, I received an email from Banana Republic that they were going to have a three hour mid-day sale.  All of their clearance items were going to be an additional 50% off from 11am-2pm on one day.  I was going to the mall anyway to do some gift returns and thought I would stop by.  Well, you would of thought that they were giving away gold.  I could not believe the number of people there.  I got a pair of camel wool pants (lined), a pair of black suede laced ankle shoe/boots with a wood heel, and a camel draped cardigan sweater (with a great rolled collar) all for $100.  Not bad!!!

That same day I had to hit Target to stock up on necessities and found a great pair of boots.  They are mid-calf biker style boots with buckles that are so comfortable and were only $10.   What a great way to try a different style or trend!

Now, I still have Christmas money left that's burning a whole in my pocket.  I think I will hit some local stores and see what they have.  Oh, and I still have my TJ Maxx gift card!!!  Look out stores 'cause here I come!!

Enjoy your day!!!

Golden Globe Fashions and Trends!

The Golden Globe Awards were held Sunday night, and it didn't disappoint me.  Between the awards, the celebrities, the emcee and the fashions...it was a pretty good show.

But of course, I would like to talk about the fashions.  There were some fabulous dresses and some not so fabulous dresses.  Let's just say they missed their mark.  I won't go into detail of those disasters, and I won't name names.  Those celebs are probably already embarrassed enough!!

There were two top trends that stood out that night...trains and mermaid style dresses.

If Jessica was your first name, then you had to wear a long straight dress with a train.  Jessica Biel, Jessica Alba and Jessica Chastain all wore that trend.  Coincidental??   Who knows.

Other celebs that wore the "train" trend were Evan Rachel Wood, Lea Michele, Octavia Spencer, and Charlize Theron.  Now trains aren't necessarily a new awards show trend, it just struck me as the number of them that I saw.

The other big trend that I observed that night was the mermaid style dresses.  Did you see Sofia Vergera in her navy Vera Wang strapless dress.  She has the absolute perfect curvy body for the mermaid style dress.  She looked stunning and sexy!

Reese Witherspoon was also looking fabulous in her red Zac Posen strapless mermaid style dress.  Other celebs that wore that trend were Kate Beckinsale, Rooney Mara, Tina Fey, Julianne Moore, Elle Macpherson and Kelly Osbourne.  Tilda Swinton put her offbeat twist to that trend by pairing a light blue jacket with a mermaid style skirt from Haider Ackerman.  It's always interesting to see what she will wear to these shows.

All in all, it was a great evening!  Watching the Golden Globes with good friends and good wine...it can't get much better than that!!!

Enjoy your day!

Life!

Six years ago today, we lost a very special person.

I had known this person since grade school and had been friends with him since then.

He was a handsome, nice, smart and kind person.

He was taken from us way too soon.

My friend, Jon Noorlag, died from ALS at age 40.  He was diagnosed at age 39 and died 20 months later, never making it to his 41st birthday.

Many questioned how, at such a young age, could he have gotten this disease.  ALS, we all thought, were for older people, right?

It just goes to show you that you never know.

Life is too short.

Make the most out of your life.

Make the most out of your day.

Spend time with your friends and family.

Enjoy your day!

Pastels-The Trend for Spring

Pastels are the hottest trend for spring!

Every designer is showing these delicate colors...Ralph Lauren, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, which is completely opposite of all of those bold colors designers were showing in fall.

We are talking skirts, blouses, dresses and even denim jeans.

These pastels are soft and very feminine, very low key.

Blues, greens, yellows and pinks...but not bold, not bright.  The pastel clothes have a touch of color, ice tones.  Kind of reminds me of Easter.  The eggs, the bunnies, the little girls in their cute Easter dresses.

My question to you is will you wear this trend?  And if so, what clothing item will you wear?

In Chicago, yesterday and today hovered around 50 degrees.  Yes, you read it correctly.  However, the sky will fall tomorrow and we will finally get our cold weather and snow (so far we have only had 2 inches of snow the whole winter). So, pastels are not on my radar right now!!!

We will have to revisit this topic in the spring, and I will ask you the question again.  Will you wear this trend???

Enjoy your day!

Spring!!!!

Spring!!!!  Thought that might catch your attention!

I was just browsing through the new Nordstrom catalog, January 2012.  It's all about spring trends and spring fashions. I love it!!

But of course, it's still winter even though here in Chicago we have only had 2 inches of snow.  Yes, only two inches of snow so far, and lately the temperatures haven't been so bad.  Which kind of scares me!  It this the calm before the storm (so to speak)?

All I know is in less than three months, my family and I will be in the Florida Keys.  So that Nordstrom book is making me want to be there now!!

Let me tell you a few items I just love from that catalog.

First of all, I love the Vince Camuto "Persh" sandal.  It's a mandarin, brandy and cerulean (aka..brown, orange, blue) leather platform sandal with a high stacked heal and a gold buckle.  They are $129.95.  I would wear these with everything from shorts, cigarette pants, skirts, jeans and dresses!!

Secondly, I love the Alexis Bittar hand-sculpted, hand-painted skinny and medium sized tapered bangles.  The colors are so much fun...bright fuchsia, bright aqua, orange, cobalt, and silver.  The skinny bangle is $65 and the medium size one is $75.  It's a great way to add a burt of color.

Another pair of shoes that I love are the DV by Dolce Vita leather flat sandal with gold-tone hardware.  These sandals come in hot pink, black, off-white, or mint.  And the best part is that they are only $68.95!!!  What a deal!!!

And finally, the 7 For All Mankind skinny cotton/spandex kelly green jeans for $169.  These jeans are shown rolled up twice with a navy and white nautical striped tee.  So cute!!

Ok, back to dreaming about warm weather and the beach.  I can't wait until spring!!

Enjoy your day!!!
